Superheroes!!!!

Life would be way better with Superheroes in it wouldn't it, Batman and Superman being normal sights in common life, saying "Hi" to Captain America as he walked down the street (Ok, Maybe he comes to England for a holiday?? Or to film the second Avengers movie!!)  Me, Sarah and Tom are all going to wear something 'Superheroey' for the flight to go to Crete on Holiday (because we're strange like that...) So Sarah is going to wear a Superman T-shirt and Tom is going to wear a Batman T-shirt and I'm going to wear a t-shirt which has Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America and Wolverine on it ( It also says 'I ♥ Men in Uniform... which is true!) Superheroes are just amazing.

Some Superheroes don't even have Special Powers. Take Batman... He wasn't bitten by a radio-active spider or given a super-serum, he made himself a Superhero which means that technically I could be a Superhero! I could build a mechanic suit and save the world, save the world on a daily basis. All I need to do now is build my superhero suit and then i'm sorted!!!

Ooooh Captain!!!

I'm a very weird person....

Like the title says... I'm weird and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I like standing out in the rain, I talk to myself, whenever I can't find something I blame The Borrowers (If you haven't read the books or watched the film-- you seriously need to!!!), I have a..... unique... opinion on things and I have the memory of a goldfish.

I pull funny faces at people.. (not random people.... i'm not that strange..), I randomly say 'I'm a fish' or more recently 'Birdy' But the way Bambi says it, I changed what career I wanted to do half way through my degree, I mime along to my mp3 player when i'm on the bus or walking (because singing aloud would be crazy), I reckon I was born in the 1940s, lived through the 60s and died by the 90s because I love music from the 60s and would love to have been around then.

I have an obsession about Rom-Coms, there is such a thing as happy rain and I want a Tardis so much I have a list in my head (which I will end up forgetting at some point..) of places I would go if I had one. I also have a slight obsession about socks and pyjamas that have animals on them.

Sometimes I wonder why people are friends with me.... Sometimes I even ask them. Although one benefit of my weirdness is i'm fairly good at quizzes, mainly because I have random facts hidden away somewhere in my brain; no important information is there, just random facts.

Most of the time I act like a child and say silly things but where's the fun in being ordinary, its way more fun to be strange and unique.

Happy Rain.....

Disney!!!

'Growing old is mandatory, Growing up is optional' - Walt Disney

I'm not ashamed to admit it, I LOVE DISNEY!!!! There is something about those films I just love, and when I say Disney I mean the Disney Animations. Hopefully I will never grow out of my love for these films, they have many likable characters and can have humour which would appeal to both children and adults.... And I know i'm not the only 19 year old who still wants to watch Disney movies at the Cinema!!

In honour of my long fascination with Disney, here are my favourite Disney movies so far:
  • Peter Pan- Because I want to be like Peter Pan and never grow up!!!
  • Mulan- Everyone wants to dress up as a man, join the army, save Imperial China and fall in love right??? Hmmm just me then.
  • Tangled- There is something about that scene on the lake with the lanterns.
  • Snow White and the Seven Dwarves- Moving aside the creepy scene with the boulder at the end that used to freak me out when I was 5, the rest of the movie is awesome and I've fallen in love with Dopey. Although whenever I hear Whistle While You Work I always think of the Dad's Army version....
  • Frozen- Olaf. Sven. Need I say more??
  • Robin Hood- Catchy songs and loveable characters. However never watch The Jungle Book before or after.. you may notice some similarities..
  • Jungle Book- The vultures which are supposed to be The Beatles, I Wan'na Be Like You and Baloo the Bear. End of.
  • Dumbo- If you ignore the weird scene where Dumbo gets drunk and sees Pink Elephants the rest of the film is quite good.
So there you have it... there are probably other films which aren't released yet that I will end up loving and ones I haven't put on my list. If you think there is some missing comment below and tell me your favourites!!

You've got to love Dopey!!!!

We're all going on a summer holiday!!!!

This June for the first time in 12 years I will be going on a foreign holiday!!! The countdown for it began as soon as it was booked but now its getting closer!! I have an imagined vision of what the holiday will  be like, Me, Sarah and Tom will go and sunbathe on the sandy beaches, make the most of the all inclusive drinks and go swimming in one of the many pools in the resort. We have even planned that we will wear our converse style shoes and something superheroey on the flight there. And ironically the holiday is booked in the name of the most forgetful member of our little group (me!!) so no doubt I will end up forgetting to take something with me although as long as I remember the boarding passes, luggage and get on the right plane i'm sure it will end up being fine.

This holiday is a well deserved treat for all three of us, a way to unwind after our second year of university. I do feel slightly sorry for Tom though.. going on holiday with two women but it helps that we're really good friends and Tom is fully aware of the fact that he will get pushed into the pool and made into a sand mermaid!! He'll also have to watch out that he doesn't fall asleep on the plane because I might just be tempted to put make-up on him.... and I'm sure Sarah would be happy to help!!

One thing I was not counting on was the amount of holiday shopping I would be doing. In all fairness, about half of the things I have brought for the holiday I did really need like shorts and dresses as I don't think my normal clothing choice of jeans and a t-shirt would be suitable to wear in the heat of Crete! Although ironically I had already picked out the bikini I wanted to buy before the holiday was even booked and I am never one to turn down a shopping trip or miss the opportunity to spend lots of money!!

All in all I reckon our little holiday should end up as an unrivalled success and hopefully the first of many trips abroad!!

Ten Things I've Learnt from Rom-Coms.

I admit it... I love romantic-comedies. They are one of my many weaknesses. They provide a method of escapism and a way to view the world in a different light. They also provide valuable life lessons to (slightly..) normal people like me. In honour of this important fact. I will share with you Ten of the important lessons that I've learnt from some of my favourite Rom-Coms. These include:

  1. Life is short so make the most of it (About Time)
  2. Even if life seems rubbish, things will work out in the end (Sliding Doors)
  3. Christmas Jumpers are always amazing (Bridget Jones Diary)
  4. Don't eat a Mushroom Omelette in a Foreign Country... Might not be normal mushrooms (Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason)
  5. Never put make-up on in a dark taxi (Also Bridget Jones:Edge of Reason)
  6. Normal people can fall in love with Movie Stars (Notting Hill) (There's hope for me and Benedict Cumberbatch yet then!!)
  7. Sometimes everything is inter-linked (Love Actually)
  8. You can never swear too much (Four Weddings and a Funeral) (If you've seen the beginning you know what I mean!!)
  9. Running in the rain to a Snow Patrol song is a good thing (I Give It A Year)
  10. Finally... Living on a Pirate Radio boat in the sixties was actually pretty awesome!! (The Boat That Rocked)
Ok. I know that they are all mostly Richard Curtis Romantic Comedies but he makes the best ones!!

Anyway, I hoped you've enjoyed this post. I will post another one soon when I've thought of some more ideas..... so for now...

(Continuing on with the Richard Curtis Theme....)

ABSEILING!!

As some people may know... in October 2013 I abseiled down the Northampton Lift Tower (it is called the National Abseil Centre but because I come from Northampton I call it something else entirely!) And on the 24th May 2014 two people I know are going to abseil down it as well  so I thought I would give some tips to help on the day. So Steph and Rachael I hope your reading this!!

  1. Wear Old Clothes. When I did my abseil I wore an old pair of Jeans and I'm glad I did because as you go down the Tower the rope can scrape against the side of your leg and afterwards I was left with a black mark on my Jeans (it did wash out though..) Also make sure you wear shoes which you don't mind scuffing as the soles of your shoes will scrap against the concrete.. especially if you lose your footing.
  2. The Harness Hurts. Because the harness is done up tight so you obviously can't fall out it can sometimes hurt especially on your ribs. Although this does hurt less the further down the Tower you get. And beware... your ribs will hurt for about 2-3 days afterwards (well mine did!!)
  3. Look Down. Don't say to yourself before hand that you won't look down.. you have to do see where your feet are and the height isn't really that bad... everyone does look like Ants to start off with but the Views are amazing!! Would seem a shame to miss out on it.
  4. Buy Some Chocolate. Chocolate makes everything better! Plus its a nice reward for when you reach the bottom.
  5. You May Abseil Later Than Planned. On my Abseil, I was listed to Abseil at 11.30 but I didn't actually abseil till around 1.10. This might not happen on yours but be aware that it might.
  6. Finally....ENJOY IT!!  It's a really good experience and just try to not think about it too much. And if you get to half way and wonder why you decided to do the abseil... remember all the money you've raised for the Charity.......and the chocolate! ;)
Hope this has helped!!
